Do these systems really prevent water leaks or flooding?
Yes. Whether it's a washing machine leak, toilet overflow or Ice maker malfunction the FloodStop will Shut-Off the water right at the appliance. It protects against broken valves, bursting hoses and many of the failure- prone components within washing machines, toilets, dishwashers and Ice makers.
How do they work?
Quite simple. You install a FloodStop motorized ball valve upstream of each supply hose and place our water sensor on the floor near the appliance. If water leaks from a broken hose or the failure of ANY internal component, the control unit tells the ball valve to Shut-Off the water and sound an alarm.
How long is the wire from the FloodStop to the water sensor?
The water sensor has 1 meter of wire on it (approximately 3.28 feet). Additional sensors also come with 1 meter of wire. If you need to extend the wire farther than that, you can splice the wire and extend it using standard two conductor wire, around 16 or 18 gauge.
Is it difficult to install?
No. The washing machine system is as easy to install as a garden hose and the other models are installed using standard plumbing tools.
Does the FloodStop system Shut-Off water to the entire house?
No, this is a point- of- use product. It only shuts the water off at the source of the leak. If you are considering a whole house system please click here to view the WaterCop.
Aren't braided hoses burst proof?
Braided hoses should be used on your washing machine and most appliances to avoid water damage, but hoses are not the only source of flooding. And, braided hoses are not burst proof, but only burst resistant. There are many clamps, valves, pumps and drains inside the washing machine, toilets and all appliances that can fail. FloodStop was designed after the inventor suffered a home flood due to a switch failure that did not tell the washer when to stop filling with water. Water continued to run into the washer and flooded the house for 3 hours before it was discovered. We get calls virtually every day from customers with similar stories. Can I wire multiple water sensors to one FloodStop unit?
Yes! Additional sensors can be "chained" to each other, providing multiple sensor points to one FloodStop unit. There is no limit to how many water sensors you can chain together.
